Sigi Schmid says that he is confident of Jordan Morris staying at the club.
One of the highly rated players in the MLS, Morris has been linked with a move to Werder Bremen. The German outfit are expected to hand him a trial. It is believed that US national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann is responsible for this interest surrounding the player.Schmid refused to criticise the US manager. Instead, he spoke in positive fashion about his star player staying at the club. Morris would qualify as a home-grown talent thus allowing the club to sign a foreign player on a designated level.
It was a pretty disappointing 2015 campaign for Seattle Sounders after they finished only fourth in the Western Conference table. Even though this helped them qualify for the play-offs finals, they were unable to get past FC Dallas in the semifinals. A 3-3 draw on aggregate meant that Dallas were able to progress on other conditions.Schmid maybe one of the experienced and top managers in the MLS, but he has his work cut out in the upcoming 2016 season that begins in March. The arrival of several new franchise coupled with top foreign players like Didier Drogba and Steven Gerrard means that the competition will be much more intense.
“We’ve given Jordan a wide berth, and the timelines are agreed to. I know they came out in the German paper and said he was going to extend his trial and go back to Bremen, but that was always the plan, that wasn’t anything different. We knew he was going to be there up until the 20th and then he was going to come back and make a decision. We’ve given (Morris) our offer, he knows what it is. We feel good about what we’re able to do for him,” said Schmid.
