Frank De Boer Disappointed with Loss to New York City

Atlanta United suffered one of the biggest defeats of the season following a 4-1 loss against New York City. This loss at the Yankee Stadium comes just before the end of the regular season. It is a very disappointing result for Frank de Boer’s men. The manager admitted that the players lost concentration and suffered a big defeat as a result. The lack of workrate between the two halves of the game was extremely obvious. Even though the result does not hurt Atlanta’s chances of participating in the play-offs, it is a huge dent to the confidence levels.

Up until this defeat, Atlanta had lost only two games since August. Those two losses against Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew were quickly overcome with wins over Cincinnati and San Jose Earthquakes. The first half turned out to be out against New York, who are able to get a 3-0 lead after just 34 minutes following a hat-trick from Alexandru Mitri. Gonzalo Martinez came up with a penalty just after half-time but the three-goal lead was restored late in the game through Heber. Atlanta remain in contention with the likes of Philadelphia and DC United for the second spot, while New York City are significantly ahead in front at the top of Eastern Conference table.

Seattle Welcome Roman Torres and Lodeiro for San Jose Clash

Seattle Sounders have more options for the upcoming game against San Jose with defender Roman Torres back in training for the team. Nicolas Lodeiro is also likely to be available considering that his lower back injury could be solved by the use of painkillers. These options are very important for manager Brian Schmetzer following the two disappointing results since beating New York Red Bulls. Seattle have been unable to score in the last two games – against Dallas and DC United – and they have only picked up only one point from these matches. As a result, the team has slipped down the table.

Seattle have a two-point deficit to Minnesota United in the second spot of the Western conference. Since there are just two games left in the regular campaign, the team are looking for a boost going into the games against San Jose and Minnesota United. After being suspended for 10 games due to substance abuse, Torres has just made his comeback. He has started training with the team and the defender said that it was extremely frustrating to be on the sidelines. However, his participation in the game against San Jose will depend on his fitness levels. Nicolas Lodeiro, meanwhile, picked up an injury while playing against FC Dallas in the middle of September. He was unavailable for the loss against DC United, but Schmetzer spoke with positivity about his potential for a comeback.

Seattle Sounders Encounter Timid Loss against Colorado Rapids

Seattle Sounders failed to make it three wins in a row after a 2-0 away defeat against Colorado Rapids. This was a major setback for Brian Schmetzer and his team, who were hoping to narrow the advantage enjoyed by Los Angeles FC. The result also keeps the likes of Minnesota United and San Jose Earthquakes within touching distance of Seattle. It should be remembered that Seattle have not been able to pick up three consecutive victories since the opening month of the campaign. A sequence of two successive wins has been followed by a defeat in three occasions.

The game against Rapids witnessed an ongoing disappointment from Seattle, who could only manage two shots on target in the 90 minutes. The first setback came just a few minutes before the break when Andre Shinyashiki scored in the 41st minute. His second of the game came in the second half just when Seattle were hoping for a slice of luck. In the end, Seattle had to lack of three points at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park once again. Schmetzer claimed that the result was very disappointing even if the club without a number of international players, who had been away on international duty. It is quite possible that Seattle may drop to as low as fourth in the table if results go against them.

Brian Schmetzer Disappointed with Home Defeat against Kansas City

Seattle Sounders manager Brian Schmetzer has admitted that his team cannot afford to lose three goals at home and still think about winning the match. His comments come after the 3-2 defeat against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday. Seattle had already been receiving plenty of setbacks in their efforts to challenge Los Angeles FC at the top of the Western Conference table. However, the game at CenturyLink Field witnessed Seattle Sounders end up losing for the second consecutive game.

The loss against Kansas City Wizards is in the second defeat in three games for Seattle, who have now dropped to 4th in the table with Minnesota United and San Jose Earthquakes ahead. The pressure from LA Galaxy is also turning on with the club just one point behind. Seattle received a double setback after just 33 minutes following a brace from Felipe Gutierrez. Even though Jordan Morris was able to pull one back just before half-time, Erik Hurtado’s goal in the second half made the game safe for Kansas City and rendered the second goal from Morris has only a consolation. The Seattle team has to recover quickly before they face New England Revolution once again at home next weekend.
