Seattle Sounders’ recent match against Los Angeles was a test of resilience for them and they came out with absolute flying colors.

Seattle was slightly on the back-foot ahead of the game because they had locked horns with LA only a few days back and had got absolutely hammered by four goals to one. But they seemed to be pumped up to avenge that as they took the pitch on Sunday and dramatically managed to get a lead in the very first minute of the game, leaving LA shell shocked.

However that happiness turned into anguish pretty soon as not only the visitors managed to level the proceedings just a couple of minutes later, Seattle thereafter went one man short too as Cristian Roldan received marching orders from the referee for a foul.

Borussia Dortmund make transfer decision on Jadon Sancho after Pulisic sale

Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has indicated that the club have no plans of parting ways with Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window. The German side are set to lose the services of Christian Pulisic when the season concludes, and this has encouraged the need to keep hold of Sancho, who has been one of their standout performers this season.

In an interview with Bild, Watzke revealed that Sancho won’t follow Pulisic through the exit door during the summer with the club determined to keep him for at least one more season, he said:  “I’m far from putting a price tag on Jadon. His transfer would be difficult even for the biggest clubs in the world at the moment. Jadon will play for Borussia Dortmund next season.”

Stefan Frei Delighted with Seattle Sounders’ Offensive Play

Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei claims that it was a delight to see the team scoring goals for fun at the start of the 2019 MLS campaign. The Western Conference outfit have a reputation for being defensively strong, but they have now been able to get three or more goals in two out of the three MLS matches so far this season. It is remarkable that Seattle Sounders required a whopping 13 games last season just to reach 10 goals in the 2018 campaign but they have achieved this feat in just three matches so far this season. Crucially, there have been goals from five different players and there have also been players who have scored multiple goals already.

The 4-2 victory over Chicago Fire has helped Seattle Sounders register three wins on the bounce.Frei used to be a lot more busier in the previous campaigns, but he is now witnessing a change in Seattle Sounders’ mentality. There was a lot of attractiveness in the game play from Seattle Sounders and the decision from the manager to go with a different tactic right from pre-season is starting to pay rewards. Nicolas Lodeiro was largely carrying Seattle Sounders on his own during the 2016 MLS Cup, but Brian Schmetzer seems to have realised the importance of having several players capable of finding the goal.

Super Bowl And MLS

Super Bowl LIII is one of the events that were held recently and the match held between Los Angeles Ram and New England Patriots saw scoreless action on the field for 120 minutes. The final results were the Patriots winning the game on the basis of penalty kicks. Jared Goff of Rams team could have brought his team to a level from the spot position but he was unable to do so whereas Rex Burkhead was able to step up and put the game away with the penalty kick.

This is probably the lowest game score achieved in the history of the Super Bowl. It seems that punters like Johnny Hekker and Ryan Allen need to be inserted as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. That is what brings in showmanship, glamor, glitz, and hype in the game and takes it to world championship levels. This also reflects in the attendance of the fans. For instance, the MLS Cup that was held in December was 73019 whereas attendance at the Super Bowl was 70081. However, fans will remember the rollicking ride that the games provided in MLS Cup 2010 which was held between FC Dallas and Colorado Rapids in Toronto.

Seattle Sounders Lose Alonso to Minnesota United

Seattle Sounders have lost a major part of the squad after Osvaldo Alonso has decided to quit the club for Minnesota United. Alonso is the all-time leader in the Seattle Sounders history when it comes to the number of starts, appearances, and minutes spent on the pitch. He has been part of the Seattle set up since 2009 and he was also the last member of the original team that debuted in that season. Brian Schmetzer has been able to see Alonso from close up for almost a decade and he says that the player remains an icon in various aspects.

Alonso has had an immense impact at Seattle Sounders due to his drive and determination, which was apparent even in training, according to the manager. After having been able to claim the MLS Cup title by beating Toronto FC, Alonso has now been able to leave on a high. The Cuban has been able to win the team MVP on five occasions and he was also named in the MLS All-Star team on four occasions. He is only 13 appearances behind Zach Scott for the most number of appearances for Seattle Sounders across all competitions and this record goes back to 1974.
