Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders are once again being linked with a summer move for Dynamo Kiev’s Derlis Gonzalez.

The MLS Cup winners had walked away from a deal due to Dynamo’s transfer fee demands earlier in the month, but it appears that the move is back on track. Paraguay radio station ABC Cardinal suggests that Gonzalez will link up with the American outfit following Dynamo’s Champions League two-legged tie against Young Boys. The Ukrainian giants clinched a 3-1 victory at home in the third qualifying round, and they will hope to maintain their lead in order to head into playoffs next month.

Should the report be true, the Paraguay international could be a game-changing signing for the Sounders, who have enjoyed a good run of form which has propelled them up to fifth in the standings. The 23-year-old has often featured as a left-sided midfielder, but he is also capable of taking up an attacking position. Gonzalez joined Dynamo from Swiss giants Basel back in 2015, and he has since bagged five goals in 35 league outings.

Meanwhile, he has also strengthened his position with his national side with four goals in 26 caps to date. Gonzalez has bagged valuable experience playing in World Cup qualifiers, Copa America and the Champions League, but the Sounders are not in a desperate state of signing the Paraguayan owing to their recent league form. Sounders look out of colour during the initial stages of their campaign, but they are currently playing their best football with nearly a full bill of health.

Keeping this in regard, Gonzalez could be slowly integrated into the squad as they look to add more quality to their midfield in order to maintain their playoff spot. Sounders are currently fifth in the Western Conference, four points behind FC Dallas, who have two games in hand.
